Everything you need to know before you arrive.

Trying something new can feel like a lot of unknowns. Here's exactly what happens, from booking to heading home, so you can arrive relaxed.

Step by step

What happens, in order

  1. i.

    Before you arrive

Once you've booked, you'll receive a confirmation with the studio address and arrival details, plus a short health intake form. Please fill it in before your session so we can spend our time on you, not paperwork.

If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have had recent surgery or injury, mention it on the form or text me beforehand so I can plan the session safely.

Wear something comfortable, and try not to have a big meal right before.

  2. ii.

    Arriving

The studio is in Aldinga Beach, about an hour south of the Adelaide CBD. There's easy on-street parking, and the studio has its own side entrance, separate from the house.

You'll probably hear Belle and Molly, my two small dogs, saying hello when you arrive, but they'll soon settle and leave you in peace. A bathroom and shower are available whenever you need them.

  3. iii.

    Consultation

We'll sit down and talk through what's bothering you, your health history and what you'd like from the session. I'll look at how you move and where you're holding tension, then explain what I suggest and why.

Nothing happens without your agreement, and you can change your mind about anything at any point.

  4. iv.

    Getting comfortable

I'll step out while you undress to whatever level you're comfortable with and get onto the table under the towels. Many clients undress fully, others keep their underwear on. Either way, you're draped with a towel throughout, and only the area being worked on is uncovered.

  5. v.

    Craniosacral Therapy

We begin gently. I use light, still contact wherever your body needs it, from your head and spine to your limbs and feet, to help your nervous system settle out of alert. It's very subtle. Most people feel deeply calm, and some notice warmth, tingling, small spontaneous movements, or even a wave of emotion. Some drift off. All of that is normal.

  6. vi.

    Tailored massage

Once you're settled, I move into massage, drawing on remedial, myofascial release, deep tissue and relaxation techniques depending on what your body needs.

    • Tell me any time if the pressure is too much or not enough
    • Talk if you'd like to, or stay quiet. Either is fine
    • If anything feels uncomfortable, say so and I'll adjust straight away
  7. vii.

    Afterwards

Take your time sitting up. I'll bring you some water, offer a herbal tea and we'll check in on how you're feeling.

Some people feel light and loose, others sleepy or a little emotional for the rest of the day. That's your body processing. Drink water and go easy on yourself that evening.

If you'd like to book again, we can talk about what makes sense. There's no pressure either way.
